This story took place in 1969 in Palo Alto California at Gordon High School. It mainly takes place in the History class at that school, where I think they will conduct an experiment.
I think it took place at an earlier time because everyone, almost, smokes because they weren't aware of the serious health damage that could be done by smoking. Another hint was that in the very beggining of chapter five it said there was a black board and now we use mostly white boards. The language that is used in thew book is also a little bit differant like corridors and also one of the guys that came into the room that Amy and Laurie were in with the door locked was istening to a tape recorder which we hardly ever use anymore now that there are ipods.
A scentence that really stood out to me was in chapter two on page ten:They were herded into camps all over Eastern Europe, and once there they were worked, starved and tortured, and when they couldn't work anymore they were , they were exterminated in gas chambers. I chose this scentence becauseit's so sad that people would do that to other people no matter what the reason. Also, I chose it because I didn't know that they killed them in gas chambers after being tortured and put in so much pain!
My question: Do you think Robert Billings will become friends with Laurie and Amy by the end of the book? Why or why not?

I had about the same clues that you put for number 1. Where in the book did you find the corridors part because I don't remember reading about that.
I also like the sentence that you chose because it's really sad of what happened to the people.
Answer to your question:
I think that Robert Billings might have an effect with the story towards the end. There could be a chance that Laurie and Amy would be friends with them because he doesn't really have any friends and Laurie and Amy are some of the main characters in the story so far.
In the book I didn't catch that they were using tape recorder, when now we use ipods. I think that the sentace you chose also stood out to me becuase of the fact i tought that Hilter just killed them, not starved and tortured them.
In answer to your question I do think that Robert will become firends with Laurie and Amy because of the fact that Laurie does fill bad, so I think that she will sit with him and talk to him and get to know him better.
Hey I really agree about the second question because all of those are definately true. I had the same pretty much. I disagree with rachel because I did see tape recorders in there too. I like how you explained the second question good so we can understand. great job!!!!!!
The smoking cigarettes and how people didn't know the damage it could of done evidence proved me wrong about my opinion on the time period. The sentence that stood out to you gave me how badly the nazis touture you.
i think that Robert Billings will become friends with Amy and Laurie because they might talk to each other in the story and be friends.
The corridors part to answer your question Charisse was on page 6 and Rachel it was twoard the end where Amy got all mad because she had to waste her ciggarette.
yes I also think that it is in the 1960's or a little erlier. I'm not very sure but I think they might be freinds.
